The Land Transportation Office (LTO)<\/strong> suspends the issuance of student-driver permits starting from today, July 1.<\/strong>\u00a0In a live interview with DZMM Teleradyo, LTO Chief Edgar Galvante said applicants for student-driver permits are now required to take a 15-hour theoretical driving course\u00a0<\/strong>starting on August 3<\/strong> following the\u00a0Memorandum Circular 2019-2175.<\/p>\n

The program was originally slated to begin in April of this year but due to the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, it has been postponed to August.<\/p>\n

“By August 3, applicants are required to undergo a theoretical session that’s why the driving schools, as well as the LTO, already have a setup where they could enroll,” he added.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0theoretical driving course will have three sessions and a practical driving course that will tackle topics such as an introduction to driving, road and traffic rules, land transportation laws, as well as LTO Core Applications (Driver\u2019s Licensing System, Vehicle Registration, and Law Enforcement and Ticketing Systems).<\/p>\n

As stated, the course will take 15 hours to complete with each of its sessions lasting for five hours.<\/p>\n

The practical course, on the other hand, will tackle everything from starting the car to night driving before a review where the students shall be tested in different situations. This course will take eight hours to complete.<\/p>\n
