It is not an easy task to think of ways to combat the new coronavirus or COVID-19 pandemic. Solutions to flatten the curve are being discussed continuously as cases gradually increase over time.<\/p>\n

The cooperation between the National Government, Local Government Units (LGUs), and various local agencies implementing precautionary measures to protect the public is a huge step. However, there is a need for more research, medical examinations, and test kits to see a reduction of positive cases in the country.<\/p>\n

The University of the Philippines (UP), in its response to COVID-19, initially released test kits that have been approved by the government for mass testing. Recently,\u00a0UP’s\u00a0Resilience Institute<\/strong> and Nationwide Operational Assessment of Hazards<\/strong> launched EndCOV.ph<\/a><\/strong>\u2014a website that shows vital information regarding the current situation of the pandemic in the country.<\/p>\n

The dashboard contains an overview of the current situation of COVID-19 cases in the country.\u00a0Moreover, the website shows other pages related to COVID-19 such as recent advisories<\/a>, policies, resources<\/a>, list of COVID-19 hospitals<\/a>, ISKOnsult<\/a> (symptoms checker), charts<\/a>, and patient profiles<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A color-coded heat\u00a0map<\/a> shows the different areas in the country which have the most or least number of confirmed cases. The darker ones have the most cases while the brighter ones have the least cases.<\/p>\n

Under the cases page<\/a> is a list of admitted patients including their current status. By clicking the information button, you will be shown\u00a0a detailed report of the patient\u00a0that contains\u00a0the patient’s nationality, status, the hospital he\/she has been admitted to, the date of contracting the virus, its transmission type, official confirmation of any local agency, symptoms, travel history, and its possible links.<\/p>\n

ISKOnsult\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>is the website’s online symptoms checker. The page contains an online survey asking for your current health situation, contact history, and personal information.<\/p>\n

Do note that this isn’t a substitute for the actual testing, but an option to examine your well-being.<\/p>\n

Lastly, at the bottom right corner of the website, is the newest feature called Yani<\/a>\u00a0the Endcovbot<\/strong>, an AI member of the UP COVID-19 Pandemic Response Team, which is short for the term “bayanihan”.<\/p>\n

Yani’s feature allows you to ask questions and it will provide you the information you need. Additionally, you can converse with Yani in Filipino or in English!<\/p>\n
