It follows the identification used by the World Health Organization (WHO) and other countries for a much uniform classification.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The newly approved classification is sorted into three identifications:\u00a0<strong>suspect, probable, and confirmed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Suspect<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">A person is considered to be under the category of a<strong>\u00a0Suspect<\/strong> if he\/she is experiencing any of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Influenza-like illness\u00a0<\/strong>including a fever of 38 degrees Celsius, cough, and sore throat with either a <strong>travel history<\/strong> in a place with confirmed local transmission or\u00a0<strong>close contact with a confirmed or probable COVID-19 patient<\/strong> both within 14 days before the symptoms arise<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/OfficialDOHgov\/photos\/a.157979910879936\/3221639527847277\/?type=3&#038;theater\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/OfficialDOHgov\/photos\/a.157979910879936\/3221639527847277\/?type=3&amp;theater<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Fever, cough, and difficulty in breathing<\/strong> for people who are 60 years old and above,\u00a0pregnant women, health workers, or individuals who have underlying medical conditions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/OfficialDOHgov\/photos\/a.157979910879936\/3221639514513945\/?type=3&#038;theater\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/OfficialDOHgov\/photos\/a.157979910879936\/3221639514513945\/?type=3&amp;theater<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">Sudden respiratory problem with severe symptoms that requires immediate hospitalization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/OfficialDOHgov\/photos\/a.157979910879936\/3221639644513932\/?type=3&#038;theater\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/OfficialDOHgov\/photos\/a.157979910879936\/3221639644513932\/?type=3&amp;theater<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>Probable<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Suspect patients who either have undetermined test results or did not get\u00a0tested in an official laboratory\u00a0with RT-PCR\u00a0(reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) test are tagged as <strong>Probable<\/strong> cases.\u00a0This also includes suspect patients who remain untested<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/OfficialDOHgov\/photos\/rpp.156566631021264\/3221639767847253\/?type=3&#038;theater\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/OfficialDOHgov\/photos\/rpp.156566631021264\/3221639767847253\/?type=3&amp;theater<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>Confirmed<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Patients who tested positive for COVID-19 using RT-PCR testing are considered as <strong>Confirmed<\/strong> cases.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"text-align: justify\">The guidelines to identify cases in the Philippines will no longer use PUM (Person Under Monitoring) as a classification while the category of PUI (Patients Under Investigation) is further classified into Suspect and Probable cases.<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"text-align: justify\">As of writing, there is now a total <strong>4,648 confirmed cases of COVID-19<\/strong> in the Philippines with 197 recoveries and 297 total of deaths.<\/p>\n<p
