In its fifth year, Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia<\/strong>\u00a0includes five young Filipinos from 10 different fields.<\/p>\n

Forbes selection for this year’s nominees has undergone a rigorous process. Initially selecting 3,200 nominees<\/strong>, the judges have chosen 300 finalists<\/strong> from 22 different countries and territories <\/strong>from the Asia-Pacific\u00a0who satisfy Forbes’ criteria by demonstrating strong leadership, impact, potential of success, and the embodiment of the entrepreneurial spirit.<\/p>\n

Among the selected,\u00a0meet the 5 Filipinos who earned a spot on this list:<\/p>\n

Francis Plaza<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Francis<\/a> Plaza<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>landed a spot in Forbes’ finance and venture capital category. He is the co-founder and CEO of PayMongo<\/strong> in the Philippines\u2014an online payment processing platform that garnered $2.7 million during its startup. <\/span><\/p>\n

Before he established PayMongo, he worked as a software engineer at Oracle and co-founded Muber. Additionally, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering at MIT.<\/span><\/p>\n

Louise De Guzman Mabulo<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Landing a spot in the Social Entrepreneurs category, 21-year old Louise Emmanuelle De Guzman Mabulo<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is\u00a0<\/strong>the\u00a0founder of The Cacao Project<\/strong>, which advocates for the protection of farmers in the Philippines.<\/p>\n

The Cacao Project was created to provide Philippine farmers cacao plant seedlings along with bok choy, okra, and pumpkins as a way to diversify crops and maintain the soil’s fertility.<\/p>\n

Currently, her project has already helped more than 200 farmers plant 80,000 trees. For her efforts, she has been awarded as a Young Champion of the Earth 2019 by the United Nations Environment Programme.<\/p>\n

Carlos Yulo<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A 20-year old Filipino Gymnast, Carlos Yulo<\/strong><\/a>, is one of the Filipinos selected for the Entertainment and Sports category.<\/p>\n

Known for his contribution to Philippine gymnastics, he received multiple awards such as being the first male athlete in Southeast Asia to win a gold medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in 2019, earned two gold and five silvers medals at the Southeast Asian Games, and received the President’s Award in March.<\/p>\n

Yulo will be representing the Philippines in the upcoming 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.<\/p>\n

Margielyn Didal<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Also included in the Entertainment and Sports category is 20-year old Margielyn Didal from Cebu City. Widely known in the skateboarding world, Margielyn Didal<\/strong><\/a> won one of Philippines’ four gold medals at the women’s skateboarding event.<\/p>\n

Didal has also won several awards, including Athlete of the Year at the Sportswriters Association of the San Miguel Brewery Sports Awards (Oscars of Cebu Sports) and a bronze at the first Women’s Open at the Tampa Pro competition in Florida, which is held yearly.<\/p>\n

Currently, Didal is preparing for the upcoming 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo as skateboarding has been added for the first time.<\/p>\n

Breech Asher Harani<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Philippine-based filmmaker, photographer, and digital artist, 28-year old\u00a0Breech Asher Harani<\/strong> <\/a>\u00a0is the only Filipino included in the Arts category.<\/p>\n

Harani’s works are often a critique of social issues such as diversity, migration, environment, and culture. He is also the founder of Alexandrite Pictures, an independent studio that creates commercials and advocacies through commissions. He has also won awards such as the 2019 JCS International Young Creatives Award to name a few.<\/p>\n
