{"id":54530,"date":"2020-03-25T14:00:40","date_gmt":"2020-03-25T06:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/?p=54530"},"modified":"2020-03-31T13:26:40","modified_gmt":"2020-03-31T05:26:40","slug":"dot-releases-guidelines-for-hotels-and-other-accommodation-establishments-during-the-ecq","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/2020\/03\/25\/dot-releases-guidelines-for-hotels-and-other-accommodation-establishments-during-the-ecq\/","title":{"rendered":"DOT Releases Guidelines for Hotels and Other Accommodation Establishments During the ECQ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><em>Updated as of March 31, 2020<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In relation to the implementation of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon, the <strong>Department of Tourism (DOT)<\/strong> released on March 18 the <strong>Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) on Operations of Accommodation Establishments<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-54546\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/03\/hotels.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/03\/hotels.jpg 800w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/03\/hotels-290x218.jpg 290w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/03\/hotels-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/03\/hotels-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The IRR states that <strong>hotels, resorts, tourist inns, motels, and other accommodation establishments<\/strong> are <strong>not allowed to operate during the ECQ<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">However,\u00a0the guideline sites a few exceptions such as the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Foreign guests who have existing bookings under any accommodation establishment in the country as of March 17 is still valid;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Long staying guests with an existing booking as of March 17;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">New bookings of guests who are identified as employees of neighboring basic establishments like supermarkets, hospitals, BPOs, medical facilities, and the like are only allowed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This guideline also requires all accommodation establishments that are allowed to operate to report to the DOT on a regular basis the number of their staff in a skeletal workforce, as well as details of the guests.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">DOT also appealed to accommodation establishments to \u201csignificantly reduce their rates\u201d for frontliners such as health workers who are greatly affected by the suspension of mass transportation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Also read: <\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/2020\/03\/18\/what-to-know-about-the-enhanced-comprehensive-quarantine-in-luzon\/\" target=\"_blank\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What to Know About the Enhanced Comprehensive Quarantine in Luzon<\/span><\/i><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hotels are expected to limit their operations and staff, ensure proper sanitation, and observe stringent social distancing measures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">As of March 27, there are 39 DOH-accredited hotels operating around Metro Manila.
