{"id":54030,"date":"2020-03-08T13:00:46","date_gmt":"2020-03-08T05:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/?p=54030"},"modified":"2020-03-08T16:06:58","modified_gmt":"2020-03-08T08:06:58","slug":"philippines-tops-grant-thornton-internationals-2020-women-in-business-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/2020\/03\/08\/philippines-tops-grant-thornton-internationals-2020-women-in-business-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"Philippines Tops Grant Thornton International&#8217;s 2020 Women in Business Survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>Grant Thornton International<\/strong> recently released its <strong>Women in Business 2020<\/strong> report, an annual\u00a0research on gender diversity in senior management among the world&#8217;s mid-market businesses\u2014businesses that form the engine-house of the global economy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The latest report shows that among the 32 countries surveyed, the <strong>Philippines<\/strong> has the highest percentage of female executives who hold senior leadership roles with<strong> 43%<\/strong>, inching ahead of last year&#8217;s 37%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/03\/grantthornton.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-54052\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/03\/grantthornton.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"761\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/03\/grantthornton.png 761w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/03\/grantthornton-300x161.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 761px) 100vw, 761px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">According to Grant Thornton International, the three topmost positions held by Filipina executives in the workplace are <strong>chief finance officer, human resource director, <\/strong>and<strong> chief operating office<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cWe are seeing that the most significant roles in business operations\u2014strategy, finance, and people\u2014are being held by women. The percentages have decreased this year, and it is interesting to note that women are holding these same three roles,&#8221;\u00a0said P&amp;A Grant Thornton Chairperson and CEO Marivic Espa\u00f1o, in a statement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/03\/marivicespano.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-54057\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/03\/marivicespano.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"627\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/03\/marivicespano.jpg 960w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/03\/marivicespano-300x196.jpg 300w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2020\/03\/marivicespano-768x502.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">Chairperson and CEO of P&amp;A Grant Thornton Marivic Espa\u00f1o at the PICPA Women Summit\u00a0\/IMAGE P&amp;A Grant Thornton&#8217;s Facebook page<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&#8220;We hope to see more women step up into the Chief Executive Officer or Managing Director role in the future,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Further, <strong>94%<\/strong> of Filipino businesses are moving towards removing barriers to gender parity at senior levels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Broken down:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">36% to ensure equal access to developmental work opportunities<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">33% to provide mentoring and coaching as well as enable flexible work<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">30% to link senior management rewards to progress on gender balance targets and<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">26% to set targets for gender balance in leadership.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\">23% to offer unconscious bias training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cIt is extremely encouraging to see deliberate action taking place as mid-market businesses ramp up activities that encourage progress and accessibility to leadership positions for women,&#8221; Espa\u00f1o remarked.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">On a global scale, 29% of women\u00a0hold\u00a0senior management roles\u2014the same as 2019&#8217;s statistics.
