Deloitte<\/strong>, a multidisciplinary professional services organization inked a partnership with the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST)<\/strong> to launch a new Training of Trainers (TOT) program<\/strong> that aims to\u00a0prepare the Filipino youth for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.<\/p>\n

A press conference held on February 20, 2020 at the Deloitte Philippines office allowed representatives from both parties to further explain the program and its beneficiaries.<\/p>\n

The memorandum of the partnership was inked by the Managing Director of Deloitte Consulting Philippines Delivery Centre Mr. Uday Sreeram, and the Managing Director of ASSIST, Mr. Sreeni Naranayan. With the partnership, meaningful impact on issues relevant to societal success is aspired to be created through Deloitte’s corporate-social responsibility program, WorldClass.<\/p>\n

WorldClass<\/strong> is an initiative that seeks to prepare 50 million individuals equipped with skills for jobs by 2030. This is in line with the United Nations’ sustainable development goals (SDGs). The program was launched in 2018 and has already reached 4.7 million people.\u00a0It\u00a0continues to expand across India, China, South Africa, and Southeast Asia with new programs being launched.<\/p>\n

Fredieric Landicho, Managing Partner & CEO of Deloitte Philippines, hopes that this will spur more collaborative partnerships to enable the youth to tackle the biggest challenges as the world enters the Fourth Industrial Revolution. With WorldClass and the TOT program,\u00a0more people will be linked to opportunities that will help them find work in the new economy.<\/p>\n

For the inaugural TOT program, 20 educators from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) will be trained on agile methodology. The pilot run for the program began on the same day as the press conference that was also graced by the university director of PUP’s Taguig branch, Marissa Ferrer.<\/p>\n

Agile methodology is a project management process commonly used in software development. Based on iterative and incremental development, its requirements and solutions evolve through the collaboration of self-organizing, cross-functional teams. With this program, it is hoped that it will be able to help the youth become familiar with the ins and outs of the real world and equipt them with the right skill sets that they will need when they enter the workforce.<\/p>\n

As of writing, plans to expand the TOT program to other universities are already underway. Deloitte hopes that with the expansion of the program, the curriculum will benefit more students and enable them to make better and informed decisions about their future careers.<\/p>\n
