Fans of Philippine cinema have something to look out for this year as\u00a0Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino<\/strong>\u00a0(PPP) is set to be back on\u00a0September 11 to 17, 2020<\/strong>\u00a0for its fourth run.<\/p>\n

PPP\u00a0is the annual flagship program of the\u00a0Film Development Council of the Philippines\u00a0<\/strong>(FDCP), which features quality local films with captivating storylines that are screened in movie theaters nationwide.<\/p>\n

The said film festival has become a platform for Filipino filmmakers and producers most especially those from independent productions to showcase their unique stories with the opportunity to reach the widest audience in the country.<\/p>\n

And with the prevalence of mainstream and international films in commercial cinemas nowadays, PPP entries are like a breath of fresh air, exhibiting the versatility and ingenuity of Filipino Cinema.<\/p>\n

Just to recap, last year’s PPP concluded with an award’s night\u00a0that crowned Eduardo Roy Jr.\u2019s\u00a0Lola Igna<\/strong>\u00a0as the festival\u2019s\u00a0Best Picture<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0LSS<\/strong>\u00a0as the\u00a0Special Jury Prize<\/strong>\u00a0winner.<\/p>\n

Lola Igna also racked in the awards for Best Screenplay and Best Musical Score. Its lead star Angie Ferro won the award for Best Actress. Other winners included Tyrone Acierto as Best Director for his film Watch me Kill<\/em> and Martin Del Rosario as Best Actor for his role in The Panti Sisters<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Aside from featuring 10 full-length films, last year\u2019s PPP also premiered short films under \u2018Sine Kabataan,\u2019 a short-film competition for young filmmakers conducted alongside the week-long festival.\u00a0Kalakalaro<\/i>, directed by Rodson Verr Suarez, won the Best Short Film award for the competition.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s PPP will conclude\u00a0Sine Sandaan<\/i><\/strong>, the year-long celebration of one hundred years of Philippine cinema spearheaded by FDCP that kicked off at last year\u2019s PPP.<\/p>\n

Under Presidential Proclamation 622, signed November 2018, FDCP was assigned to lead the centennial year celebration of Philippine cinema, held from September 2019 to September 2020.<\/p>\n
