It\u00a0is done\u00a0on an elevated stage that acts as their special space, whose inciting events include bountiful harvest, sickness or disaster recovery, and acknowledgment of a new leader.<\/p>\n<p>This ritual is normally spearheaded by a particular Subanen family, led by the village chief dubbed as\u00a0<em>timuay<\/em>, and\u00a0facilitated by a religious leader called <em>balyan<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, Buklog sees a one-time celebration\u00a0in\u00a0the usual span of seven to nine years.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51743\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/12\/Festival5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/12\/Festival5.jpg 800w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/12\/Festival5-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/12\/Festival5-768x513.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But upon its formal inscription\u00a0during the <strong>14<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Meeting<\/strong> in <strong>Bogota, Colombia<\/strong> last December 9 to 14, 2019, UNESCO&#8217;s safeguarding measures that are founded on research await to strengthen the ritual&#8217;s preservation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a part of the social fabric of Mindanao in the southern Philippines, we see this inscription as strengthening the bonds of fraternity and solidarity in a resilient region that seeks to permanently replace conflict and discontent, with peace, hope and sustainable development,\u201d H.E. Ma. Theresa P.
