The Department of Tourism (DOT),\u00a0<\/strong>together with the local government of Quezon City, is in the works to sustainably develop and enhance the Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to a report from DOT, Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat met with Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte to discuss ongoing plans for the said project, which is a part of the city\u2019s tourism circuit to attract more local and foreign tourists.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is vital that DOT supports the vision of Quezon City to preserve its heritage park. The site is home to many significant monuments, markers, museums, and gardens, including the mausoleum containing the remains of President Manuel L Quezon, that remind visitors of the city\u2019s rich history,” said DOT Secretary Puyat.<\/p>\n

Part of DOT’s vision for the heritage park is for it to\u00a0remain a family-friendly attraction for generations to come.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the greenest city in the metro with the most number of parks and open spaces, we are looking forward to working with the DOT to enhance these assets in order for them to be more attractive to visitors of diverse interests,\u201d\u00a0Mayor Belmonte remarked.<\/p>\n

QMC is a national park and shrine dedicated to the late president Manuel L. Quezon. Built in the 1950s, it has three vertical pylons holding three angels at the top, which represent the three main islands of the Philippines: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.<\/p>\n

The 66-meter shrine that stands in the middle also serves as a mausoleum containing the president\u2019s remains\u00a0and home to a smaller museum holding\u00a0his memorabilia and collections.<\/p>\n

The green space also\u00a0serves as a big recreational ground that houses fitness and sports facilities, playgrounds, picnic areas, gardens, restaurants,\u00a0and a small amusement park.<\/p>\n

Additionally, QMC serves as a point of convergence, more so with the current construction of the Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 7 with the Quezon Memorial MRT Station located underground.<\/p>\n
