The campaign showed potential and DOT soon reached out to other mall operators.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-51431\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/12\/Malling-is-more-fun-in-the-Philippines1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"576\" height=\"372\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/12\/Malling-is-more-fun-in-the-Philippines1.jpg 576w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/12\/Malling-is-more-fun-in-the-Philippines1-300x194.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">DOT campaign \u201cMalling is More Fun in the Philippines\u201d, in collaboration with SM Supermalls last May 2019\/ IMAGE Department of Tourism<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Their initial survey showed that the most common activities for tourists are sight-seeing with a 30.5% response and shopping with a 38% response.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This pushed DOT to continue with the campaign in different ways such as the upcoming nationwide mall sale dubbed as <\/span><b>\u201cPhilippine Fun Sale\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which is targeted to happen in <\/span><b>March 2020<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">&#8220;By March we will have the first Philippine Fun Sale, for the first time, all malls will hold a sale at the same time,&#8221; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said at the Kapihan sa Manila Bay Forum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As of writing, 10 mall chains have already confirmed to join the much-awaited sale, namely SM Supermalls, Ayala Malls, Megaworld, Vista Land, Robinsons, Stores Specialists, Inc., Shangri-La Plaza, Power Plant, Ortigas &amp; Company, and The Araneta Group.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-49494\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/10\/MallOfAsia.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/10\/MallOfAsia.jpg 800w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/10\/MallOfAsia-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2019\/10\/MallOfAsia-768x513.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Shopping centers have already become one of the primary sources of livelihood and it is one of the main reasons for DOT to push through this campaign to encourage tourists and the retail sector to choose local.
