Attention, sneakerheads! The first-ever Filipino designed Vans<\/strong> is now\u00a0available in selected Vans concept stores,\u00a0<\/strong>and people are raving about it.<\/p>\n

Proudly designed by Filipino artist Nikko Pelaez<\/strong>, the limited-edition footwear showcases a Greek Mythology concept named “Along with the Gods.” This was his entry to the\u00a02018 Vans Asia Custom Culture Competition,\u00a0<\/strong>where he competed with and triumphed among\u00a010,000 participants from countries across the Asia-Pacific.<\/p>\n

A lot of shoe enthusiasts (and Greek Mythology fans) were impressed with Pelaez’s design that depicts an artistic illustration of gods and aesthetic sketches.<\/p>\n

His artwork highlights the visual message that people are the ones who control their destiny, as manifested in his\u00a0Greek Mythology-designed kicks.<\/p>\n

This one of a kind occasion uplifts the local art industry by having brilliant Filipino artists show their art at an international scale, where\u00a0a bigger audience can appreciate and take interest in it.<\/p>\n

Further, Pelaez is a great example that even at a young age, an individual can represent one’s country as long as they believe in their dreams.<\/p>\n

Pelaez expressed his gratitude for Vans through an Instagram post and encouraged aspiring artists to join the next installment of Vans Custom Culture Competition\u00a0and\u00a0showcase their world-class talent.<\/p>\n

Pelaez was also the artist behind the Batang Maynila<\/em> Custom Shoe Series<\/strong>, a commissioned project with Vans featuring custom pairs designed based on Manila\u00a0Mayor Isko Moreno.<\/p>\n
