In time of his 60th<\/sup> death anniversary, former Philippine President Elpidio Quirino\u2019s remains will be reinterred at the Libingan ng Bayani on Monday, February 29.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a radio interview with Undersecretary Manuel Quezon III, Quezon stated that Qurino\u2019s remains shall be reinterred, starting at the Manila South cemetery. The procession is said to traverse Ayala Avenue, McKinley Road, 5th<\/sup> Avenue, Lawton Avenue, and Bayani Road to the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.<\/span><\/p>\n

Quirino was the PH republic\u2019s 6th<\/sup> president, who died of heart attack in February 29, 1956. Quirino is notable for his accomplishments such as the establishment of rural bank for farmers, initiation of the Asia-Pacific movement (now ASEAN), and construction of hydroelectric powerplants and irrigation facilities. He also extended the executive clemency to more than 100 Japanese war prisoners.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Libingan ng mg Bayani is the final resting place for Filipino presidents, soldiers, scientists, and dignitaries in the Philippines.<\/span><\/p>\n

The re-interment will be attended by the Quirino family and friends, President Benigno Aquino III, and distinguished guests from the government.<\/span><\/p>\n
