Three stations<\/strong> of the Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT-2)<\/strong>, namely\u00a0Santolan, Katipunan,<\/strong> and Anonas<\/strong> stations, will\u00a0be closed for the next nine months.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Said stations are up for repairs following the fire incident last October 3, which paralyzed the train’s operations.<\/p>\n

Operations\u00a0from the Santolan to Anonas stations and back are unavailable for a minimum of six months and a maximum of nine months due to the required repairs of the damaged rectifier substations.<\/p>\n

According to the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA)’s Administrator Gen. Reynaldo I. Berroya, they have to thoroughly check the structures and equipment of the LRT-2 before they resume their operations as they cannot compromise the safety of the passengers.<\/p>\n

The LRTA is set to partially resume their operations from Santolan to Recto once all their systems and trains are cleared and are in normal condition.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in response to the halt of their operations on October 7, the LRTA has deployed 30 Victory buses<\/strong> and 20 modernized PUVs<\/strong> to take passengers from Santolan to Cubao and back<\/strong>. These trips are from 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., with fares at Php 12 to Php 15.<\/p>\n

The LRTA also announced that there will be dedicated pick-up and drop-off points for both the PUVs and buses.<\/p>\n

For the PUVs, the pick-up and drop-off will be in front of Santolan Station and near McDonald’s underneath the Araneta-Cubao Station. The buses, meanwhile, will make stops at Anonas and Katipunan stations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Metro Manila Development Authority <\/strong>and the Philippine Coast Guard<\/strong> will provide\u00a0free transport<\/strong> from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.<\/strong> to commuters from Santolan to Cubao and back<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The LRTA also advised that buses will be fielded at Masinag, Emerald, and Santolan starting October 8<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
