Going around the walled city of Intramuros<\/strong> is now more fun, efficient, and eco-friendly with Grab Philippines’\u00a0GrabWheels<\/strong>, in partnership with the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Intramuros Administration (IA).<\/p>\n

This new service will aid tourists to roam around the city and visit historic sights, with at least 30 units of GrabWheels\u2014a two-wheel personal mobility device that runs on electricity. The first pilot testing of the unit is at\u00a0Uptown Mall in Taguig.<\/p>\n

From\u00a0September to December<\/strong>,\u00a0the public can use the e-scooters for free<\/strong> at various points in Intramuros, Manila. Note that it may only be used within the city for a total of 2 hours<\/strong>. The first terminal is at Plaza Roma <\/strong>(across Manila Cathedral) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays to Sundays<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This new mode of transportation joins the eco-friendly ways to tour the city, which includes the horse-driven kalesa and the Bambike Ecotours.<\/p>\n

“This is just a pilot test. After a month, we will review its reception and determine the necessary mechanisms and setting of fees to make it sustainable,” Atty. Guiller Asido of the Intramuros Administration said in a statement.<\/p>\n

To use, download the free GrabWheels app available on the\u00a0App Store<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Google Play<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Your mobile must also have the Grab app installed, which should be\u00a0linked to your GrabPay account. Grab has not announced when the paid services start.<\/p>\n

Manila\u2019s famed Intramuros has to be the most historic area within Metro Manila. If the walls could talk, they would tell stories of bravery and resilience.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s one of the few places in the Philippines\u00a0that can transport you to a time when horse-drawn carriages and Spanish architecture were the norms.<\/p>\n

Walk, scooter, or bike through the streets and in between the walls to get a sense of what it would have felt like to live during the Spanish period.<\/p>\n
