August marks the country’s National Language Month, as well as the Historical Month\u00a0<\/strong>when\u00a0Filipinos celebrate the nation’s historical past.<\/p>\n

In line with this, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP)<\/strong> has released a month-long event calendar with activities you can attend!<\/p>\n

Former President Benigno Aquino signed the\u00a0Proclamation No. 339\u2014which declared August as History Month\u2014in view of major events in Philippine history that occurred in this month.<\/p>\n

The celebration concludes with National Heroes Day on August 30.<\/p>\n

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines\u00a0is mandated to undertake research and publication of Philippine historical works; educational activities on historical events and personages; restoration, preservation and conservation of movable and immovable objects of historical value and implementation of the National Historic Act of the Philippines; administration of historic sites, structures and memorabilia of national heroes; and blazoning of government symbols.<\/span><\/p>\n
