With just a\u00a0drop of a beat to the show’s prologue, everyone was transported to a concept kingdom filled with\u00a0blue and red lights. Ecstatic fans expressed their excitement through a loud, warm welcome for the queen herself \u2014<\/span>Halsey<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Despite the inclement weather and the usual rush-hour Manila traffic, fans seemed to not be bothered as they enjoyed the night\u00a0watching Halsey perform.\u00a0 The concert held last August 10 was Halsey’s last stop in the Philippines for her\u00a0Hopeless Fountain Kingdom World Tour. <\/strong>She performed along with\u00a0front-act\u00a0Niki, <\/strong>an Indonesian singer-songwriter.<\/p>\n

The concert opened with a spoken prologue inspired by Romeo and Juliet and just right before the chorus of her first song,\u00a0“Eyes closed,”<\/em>\u00a0the silhouette behind the white cloth was unveiled. Halsey was welcomed by a loud uproar as the American singer\u00a0staged her first ever concert in the Philippines.<\/p>\n

Right after\u00a0The Prologue<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Eyes Closed<\/em>, she sang\u00a0“Gasoline”<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0“Castle”<\/em>\u00a0from her previous album called Badlands. It was her first time singing\u00a0Gasoline<\/em>\u00a0for her world tour which was then followed by\u00a0Heaven in Hiding<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Strangers<\/em>\u00a0which she dedicated to the members of the LGBTQIA+ community in the Philippines.<\/p>\n

The aesthetically pleasing visuals behind Halsey was one of the highlights of the concert<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Making everyone feel like she was just within reach, she even\u00a0interacted with her fans a lot. After\u00a0Strangers<\/em>, she sang three songs from Badlands such as\u00a0Roman Holiday<\/em>,\u00a0Hurricane,<\/em>\u00a0and in the middle of\u00a0Colors<\/em>, she finally went down the stage to get up close with her fans.<\/p>\n

As she went back to the stage,\u00a0the concert became a\u00a0bit mellow and heart-warming as Halsey called the Filipinos as some of the best music fans in the world. She also recalled how music has become a language for everyone.\u00a0“The cool thing about music is that it’s a language that the entire world speaks.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Halsey\u00a0opened the next special song with a\u00a0quote “It’s special to play a concert in a place where the song holds a special meaning,”\u00a0<\/em>and finally sang her stripped version of the hit song\u00a0Closer,<\/em> where she was featured.<\/em> She even joked that she would show the Chainsmokers (original artists) her own video singing the song and that her crowd was louder than theirs.<\/p>\n

Halsey surely rocked the stage with simplicity and a whole lot of energy<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

She\u00a0became nostalgic as she described\u00a0Closer<\/em>\u00a0as an amazing song that became the reason why she was able to come here in the Philippines. She then took it back saying\u00a0“For as long as I can remember, I have always\u00a0had\u00a0a Halsey Philippines Fan Club. It’s one of the oldest fan accounts that I could remember, so I actually take it back. You guys have been with me at the beginning so that’s what sends me here.”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

After\u00a0Closer<\/em>, she sang\u00a0Sorry<\/em>,\u00a0Alone, Walls, Now or Never, Young God<\/em>\u00a0and finished it with an encore of\u00a0Bad at Love.<\/em>\u00a0The epic concert was a fun night of music and laughter; plus, her aesthetically pleasing visuals made the concert\u00a0all the more beautiful.<\/p>\n

Halsey ended the concert by leaving a heart-warming message for all of her fans that made everyone tear up.\u00a0\u201cI spent a long time in my life looking for someone who is going to take care of me, love me unconditionally, and make me feel happy and safe. And I realized I’ve been looking in the wrong way the whole time because it\u2019s right in front of me!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
