In 2015, a census from the Philippine Civil Registration states that there are over\u00a0100,981,437 people in the country; this is 8 million higher compared to the 2010 census\u00a0reports. As these numbers grow higher, the percentage of Philippine immigrants also multiply.<\/p>\n

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) recently had an indoor meeting to prepare for\u00a0the final round of agreement for the inter-governmental negotiations on the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration (GCM).<\/p>\n

During\u00a0the meeting, different aspects of regular or safe migration to the Philippines is discussed. According to a report produced by the Migration Policy Institute, the Philippines was the first country in Asia to make a law that focuses on the human rights and safety of its foreign citizens, or visitors.<\/p>\n

The largest cities in the country\u2014Manila, Caloocan, and Quezon City\u2014are places where immigrants normally dwell.<\/p>\n

In a report published by the DFA, the\u00a0meeting\u00a0was attended by migration and labor experts from National Economic and Development Authority, Commission on Filipinos Overseas and Department of Labor and Employment, and its attached agencies International Labor Affairs Bureau, National Reintegration Center for OFWs, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.<\/p>\n
