The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), in cooperation with show sponsor SM Cinema and event partner PLDT, brought one of the biggest ASEAN film events in the country: the International Film Expo 2015<\/strong> (IFX), held last June 26 \u2013 28<\/strong> at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex. <\/strong>This event bridged together enthusiasts, directors, and writers, all for the love of film.<\/span><\/p>\n

EVERYTHING FILM. There is a diverse roster of speakers imparting invaluable film knowledge ranging from animation to equipment.<\/em><\/p>\n

In the world today, only Hollywood, the United Kingdom, France, Britain and Germany in Europe has the capability to produce world class filming equipment. In the Pacific region, only Japan and Sydney, Australia registered to be qualified to join the global giants. People who spearheaded IFX 2015 had another idea in mind, though, and wanted to include Manila as a film technology hub, updated with the latest trend in production.<\/span><\/p>\n

STATE-OF-THE-ART. Different production houses showcase their wares for everyone\u2019s film needs.<\/em><\/p>\n

Exhibitors include the Animation Council of the Philippines, De La Salle College of Saint Benilde, Film & Media Arts International Academy, RSVP FILM STUDIOS Philippines, HTech Corporation, Creativoices Productions, See Through Pictures, INC., Solid Video Corporation, Light Network, Walter Sounds & Stage Lighting, CMB Films Services, INC., and American Technologies, Inc. \u2013 The Better Solutions. The visitors had a grand time trying out their equipment that is usually seen inside broadcasting studios, production houses and professional film shoots.<\/span><\/p>\n

ASEAN countries also made an appearance. The country line-up included Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Indonesia. Their participation in the event strengthens ties between countries within the region through the sharing of culture as viewed in film.<\/span><\/p>\n

The IFX also promoted the World Premieres Film Festival<\/strong> (WPFF), a film festival recognizing the talents of critically-acclaimed directors all across the globe. The Philippines is to host the annually-held event this year, with entries coming in from different countries. Categories include the Main Competition, Cine Verde, ASEAN Skies, Euroview, Ibero America, Eurasian and the Classics. This year\u2019s addition is the new category Filipino New Cinema, exhibiting contemporary films from up-and-coming Filipino directors.<\/span><\/p>\n

LINEAR EDITING. The National Film Archives of the Philippines demonstrates how old films work in vintage, metal film reels.<\/em><\/p>\n
