With a vision to help create \u201cbreathing spaces\u201d in the Philippines, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) aims to commence an assistance program to establish public open spaces around the Philippines.<\/p>\n

\"\"One of the places that inspired DBM to create an assistance program: The People’s Park in Davao City<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

These breathing spaces in the form of eco-friendly spots shall be in collaboration with local government units parallel to the present administration\u2019s \u201cBuild, Build, Build\u201d Development program. In this program, more well-maintained gardens, streets, waterfronts, and revitalized plazas will be available to make living in the city better.<\/p>\n

This assistance program will have a Php 2.5 billion funding\u00a0which will be\u00a0investing in transforming public spaces into a sanctuary; a spot in the midst of a busy urban city. Aside from beautifying the metro and enriching the physical, mental, and health aspects of citizens, this space shall be useful for emergency response and disaster resilience too.<\/p>\n

As per DBM, this assistance program is also in line with United Nation\u2019s 17 Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 that is to \u201cMake cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.\u201d It also targets that by 2030, there shall be \u201cuniversal access to safe, inclusive, and accessible, green and public spaces in particular for women and children, older persons, and persons with disabilities.\u201d<\/p>\n
