If you haven&#8217;t, here&#8217;s one good reason to do so: the film just won an award during the 2018 Golden Globes, and a number of Filipinos are behind this success.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-24728\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2018\/01\/26169388_598128607185590_7190054303122305662_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"800\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>IMAGE Coco Facebook page<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Deserving the special mention is Pixar supervising animator Gini Cruz Santos who is a co-recipient of the 2018 Golden Globe for Best Animation Motion Picture for the movie <em>Coco<\/em>. Santos is also the first female and Filipina to handle the position at Pixar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">In an interview with PhilStar, Santos had shared that it took about six years to create Coco because of the intensive research required, which involved visiting Mexico several times.\u00a0In another interview with <em>The Local Lense,<\/em> she also shared that the movie being about family and reaching for one&#8217;s dreams is what makes this movie easy to connect with.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Coco Interview w\/ Animator Gini Santos\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2IqYfVhMISw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">While the film is set in a Mexican cultural festival, which is also a first from Pixar, Filipino viewers will not have a difficult time relating to <em>Coco<\/em> because of the close similarity between the Philippine and Mexican cultures, especially in terms of family values.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><em>Coco<\/em> was also nominated for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture for the theme song &#8220;Remember Me,&#8221; which was composed by Filipino-American composer Robert Lopez and his wife, Kristen Anderson-Lopez.
