It is time yet again for the Philippines’ biggest annual celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene to be held in the city of Manila and other parts of the country. The feast is expected to see about 19 million participants, two million of which are expected to join the grand procession in Manila on January 9.<\/p>\n

The city and national government are now expected to be all geared up and ready for tomorrow’s Traslacion, the feast’s biggest activity which will parade the image of the Black Nazarene from Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church.<\/p>\n

In connection with Traslacion, the city government of Manila declared last Thursday, January 4, the suspension of classes and work in local government offices.<\/p>\n

A 36-hour liquor ban within a 200-meter radius of the Traslacion route will also be enforced starting 6 p.m. today, Monday, until 5 .am. on Wednesday, January 10. Meanwhile, a gun ban will be implemented beginning 12 a.m. on January 8 until 12 a.m. on January 10.<\/p>\n

A traffic rerouting plan, detailing the Traslacion route, road closures, and alternate routes, has been released last January 4 by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA):<\/p>\n

Here is the route of the Grand Procession of the Black Nazarene, which will start from Quirino Grandstand at Rizal Park and will end at Quiapo Church.<\/p>\n

The Thanksgiving Procession meanwhile will start from Plaza Miranda and end at Quiapo Church.<\/p>\n

The following routes will be closed to traffic.<\/p>\n

It is highly advised to steer clear of the procession’s surrounding areas. If you find yourself needing to travel through Manila during the religious celebration, here are the alternate routes you can take.<\/p>\n
