He joined the propaganda movement in Spain and wrote in the newspaper La Solidaridad under the pen name Taga-Ilog. Upon his return to the Philippines in 1898, he founded the newspaper La Independencia, denouncing the American occupation.\u00a0General Luna is best-known for his bravery and in applying his knowledge in military tactics to the army.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23510\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/11\/news-11242017a1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2464\" height=\"1640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/11\/news-11242017a1.jpg 2464w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/11\/news-11242017a1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/11\/news-11242017a1-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/11\/news-11242017a1-1024x682.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2464px) 100vw, 2464px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The obverse side of the commemorative coin shows the portrait of Antonio Luna, the marking \u201cRepublika ng Pilipinas\u201d and \u201cHeneral Antonio Luna\u201d, the denomination 10-Piso, Mintmark, and the General\u2019s signature. The reverse side has the markings \u201cDangal\u201d (Honor), \u201cTapang\u201d (Bravery), \u201cDignidad\u201d (Dignity), \u201cBayani ng Digmaan Laban sa Unidos, 1899\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A picture of the General on horseback, the epaulet for the General\u2019s rank of Brigadier General, \u201c150 Taon\u201d, a graphic of the paper with the title\u00a0La Independencia and inkwell, \u201c1866-2016\u201d, \u201cHeneral Antonio Luna\u201d, the BSP Seal, and micro letters \u201cSAMPUNG PISO\u201d. The BSP will issue 10 million pieces of this commemorative coin.<\/p>\n<p>The General Luna coin shall be available starting 24 November 2017 at the Cash Department-BSP Main Office (Manila) and Security Plant Complex (Quezon City), La Union, Davao and Cebu Regional Offices.
