The 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit<\/strong> will be held in different parts of Metro Manila and in Clark, Pampanga from November 10 to 14. The summit will also coincide with the special celebration of ASEAN’s 50th anniversary.<\/p>\n

With the theme “Partnering for Change, Engaging the World” and the Philippines as this year’s Chairman, the 31st ASEAN Summit aims to strengthen the unity among ASEAN members and global partners and together head towards a future where all nations prosper.<\/p>\n

The heads of the 10 ASEAN member states are expected to gather in the summit, along with major world leaders like Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Chinese Premiere Li Kequiang, South Korean President Moon Jae-in, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau,<\/strong> and US President Donald Trump<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ensuring the security for the summit are approximately 60,000 forces that will monitor the overall safety, as well as traffic. In line with this,\u00a0road closures, no-fly zones, and no-sail zones\u00a0have been implemented until the end of the summit.<\/p>\n

Road\u00a0lockdown<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

There will be a partial lockdown of the CCP Complex in Pasay City on November 8 and a full lockdown on November 12 & 14. Other areas that will be on full lockdown are SMX-MAAX Block, Pasay City on November 11, and Roxas Boulevard (from Padre Burgos Avenue to Buendia Avenue) on November 13, 12 a.m. to 12 n.n. The lockdown of SMX-MAAX Block and the CCP Complex will be partially lifted on November 12 and November 15, respectively.<\/p>\n

During a partial lockdown, pedestrians and vehicles without ASEAN IDs and decals can still take the ASEAN routes through the designated security areas. On a full lockdown, however, only those with ASEAN IDs and decals may take the mentioned routes.<\/p>\n

Motorists are also advised to avoid the lockdown areas, as well as EDSA and the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) to avoid inconvenience due to the stop-and-go scheme that will be implemented during the summit.<\/p>\n

No-fly zone<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Air operations are also being banned in certain parts of Metro Manila and Clark, Pampanga.<\/p>\n

All types of aircrafts are currently not allowed within a 10,000-feet altitude and a 40-nautical-mile radius at the Clarkfield Special Economic and Freeport Zone in Pampanga since November 9 and until November 15.<\/p>\n

From November 12 to 15, a no-fly zone will be implemented within a 10,000-feet altitude and a four-nautical-mile radius of Rizal Park Manila.<\/p>\n

A no-drone operation within 40 nautical miles is also currently being implemented in Clark, Pampanga and Rizal Park.<\/p>\n

Moreover, landings will be banned on Runway 13 and take-offs will be restricted on Runway 31 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from November 12 to 15 from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n

No-sail zone<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A no-sail zone has been implemented in the vicinity of Manila Bay, which includes the waters of H2O Hotel Manila until Okada Hotel (Para\u00f1aque), from November 5 until November 16. During this time, no boat, ship, or any watercraft can pass through the no-sail zone.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a controlled zone has been implemented from the shoreline of H2O Hotel to the mouth of Pasig River. Vessels can pass through this area escorted by Philippine Coast Guard patrol boats.<\/p>\n
