{"id":21475,"date":"2017-10-02T08:59:29","date_gmt":"2017-10-02T00:59:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/?p=21475"},"modified":"2017-10-02T18:12:02","modified_gmt":"2017-10-02T10:12:02","slug":"makati-to-launch-microchips-for-pets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/2017\/10\/02\/makati-to-launch-microchips-for-pets\/","title":{"rendered":"Makati to Launch microchips for Pets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pet lovers will once again rejoice because of a new project spearheaded by Makati City\u2019s own Mayor, Abigail Binay in implementing a citywide micro-chipping program for about 32,000 dogs and cats as part of its animal identification program.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21481\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/09\/1-19.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Starting the month of October, Makati City will be starting to implement their newest program requiring all dogs and cats to have a planted identification microchips\u00a0within their bodies, making Makati a \u201crabies-free\u201d city.<\/p>\n<p>This program is free of charge and will be implanted by licensed veterinarians from the Veterinary Services Office (VSO). The microchips will contain information about the animal and its <em>furrent<\/em> or human guardian, as well as data regarding rabies vaccination acquired by the animal itself. Collected and stored details would be uploaded to the city\u2019s database, which would allow the VSO to monitor and check the number of dogs that had been given anti-rabies shots.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21476\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/09\/Makati-dog-gets-microchip.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"396\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/09\/Makati-dog-gets-microchip.jpg 620w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/09\/Makati-dog-gets-microchip-300x192.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>IMAGE Philippine Daily Inquirer<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The microchips can not only identify pets but can also prevent theft, increase pet recovery after a loss, monitor the pet\u2019s temperature, aid in disease monitoring, trace their breed and genealogy, and assist in the rescue of animals in an emergency.
