The Philippines proved that our waves may not be comparable to Hawaii and Australia\u2019s but it does\u00a0have some of the world\u2019s best surfers as Daisy Nerisa Daisy Valdez won the championship title for the women\u2019s Longboard division at the Renextop Asian Surfing Tour (RAST) in Japan.<\/p>\n

The 29-year old surfer hails from Urbiztondo beach in San Juan, La Union, the country\u2019s Surfing Capital of the North. She started surfing at the age of 10, and it\u2019s all been training and competitions for her since.<\/p>\n
Valdez came in second in the tour\u2019s first stop in Canggu, Bali last June 8 to 11, losing by just over one point against Korea\u2019s Jina Kim. She emerged victorious at the tour\u2019s second stop in Makinohara, Shizuoka-Japan from September 7 to 9. She still has to compete in RAST\u2019s two more stops in the Philippines and China.<\/p>\n
