ABS-CBN will soon be airing a talent show where the search for members of MNL48, the upcoming \u201csister group\u201d of Japanese all-girl pop group AKB48.<\/p>\n

Last August 2017, HalloHallo Entertainment Inc., in a press release said that they will be partnering with ABS-CBN, the country’s biggest media outlet, to showcase a new flavor of entertainment to the Filipino audience.<\/p>\n

AKB48 is a Japanese all girl-pop group that was formed in 2005, and have since become one of the most successful idol groups in Japan with albums and singles sales numbering tens of millions.<\/p>\n

The show will be patterned on the original AKB48 concept, which likely means that public votes will determine the members. Although other details such as the show’s title, mechanics, and a release date are not yet announced, it is believed that the auditions already happened back in December 2016.<\/p>\n

MNL48 would be one of the newest AKB48 sister groups outside of Japan in addition to already existing units in Jakarta, Indonesia, and in Shanghai, China.<\/p>\n
