Quezon City proved itself once again as the country’s most competitive city on the 2017\u00a0Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index of the National Competitiveness Council of the Philippines.<\/p>\n

Last year, Quezon City also topped the list. The ranking is based on\u00a0economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency.<\/p>\n

Recognition plaques were awarded during the 5th Regional Competitiveness Summit and Awards held last August 16 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay. Besides the 1st place award for overall competitiveness, Quezon City also received the 1st place award for infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Manila City, which was the overall most competitive city back in 2015, ranked 1st on government efficiency this year. Pasay City placed 1st among highly urbanized cities on the economic dynamism category, while Davao City topped the rankings on resiliency.<\/p>\n

Manila (2nd), Davao (3rd), Makati (4th), and Pasay (5th) followed Quezon City in the rankings of highly urbanized cities based on overall competitiveness.<\/p>\n

Component cities, municipalities, 1st to 2nd class municipalities, and 3rd to 6th class municipalities were also ranked based on the same criteria as the highly urbanized cities. Provinces meanwhile were ranked based on population and income weighted average of the overall scores of cities and municipalities under a province.<\/p>\n
