It was a great day for a new set of Chevening scholars as the incoming British Ambassador to the Philippine saw them off for their one-year study in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

Daniel Pruce, who replaced Asif Hamad as Her Majesty\u2019s Ambassador to the Philippines this August, oversaw the send-off of 27 postgraduate students from varying fields of study last night at the British Embassy in Taguig City.<\/p>\n

The 27 awardees will attend different Chevening partner institutes in the UK to pursue their chosen postgraduate degree for a year. This year\u2019s awardees will pursue studies in the fields of Law, Journalism, and different fields of Science to name a few.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Pruce congratulated the latest batch of Chevening scholars in Filipino, though he did leave them with a message in English before handing the certificates. \u201cI wish you all the very best. I hope you work hard while in the UK, and I hope you will play harder because it\u2019s one of the great opportunities to learn about English culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also invited anyone who\u2019s interested in applying for a Chevening scholarship to visit chevening.org and apply for a Chevening scholarship. Applications are open until 8 pm on November 7, 2017.<\/p>\n

Chevening is the UK Government\u2019s international awards scheme aimed at developing global leaders since 1983. They offer two types of awards – the Chevening Scholarship and the Chevening Fellowship.<\/p>\n
