Following the successful Queen Marie Antoinette afternoon tea, Raffles Makati presents the second of its royal afternoon tea series at the Writers Bar<\/strong> featuring the longest reigning monarch in Great Britain, Queen Victoria.<\/p>\n

Inspired by the great Victorian Era, the Royal Afternoon Tea will be offered from August 1 until November 30. Indulge in a three-tier medley of sweet and savory British classics, favorites, and delicacies created after the sovereign monarchs of England.<\/p>\n

Delicate tea-cup sandwiches include: a London Bridge Roll with crab and cress, a favorite delicacy shaped like the arch of the London Bridge; Coronation Chicken, which was created in 1953 for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II; vintage cheddar cheese tart; and the age-old English tea sandwich with poached salmon, citrus cream cheese and dill.<\/p>\n

Delightful confections such as the Victorian sponge cake, a time-honored cake filled with butter cream and raspberry jam, named after Queen Victoria herself; vintage flora cookies inspired by charming Victorian design; all-time British-favorite, truffle chocolates filled with gin and orange; traditional lemon tart; classic English toffee cupcake; and popular Jammie Dodger\u2014a British biscuit made from shortbread with flavored jam filling\u2014create the charming Queen Victoria Afternoon Tea.<\/p>\n

For a more British experience, several activities will be held at the Writers Bar during this time.\u00a0 Afternoon-tea aficionados are invited to join British tea etiquette classes on August 20, September 24, and October 29 at 3 p.m. conducted by Protocol Specialist Sheila Viesca of TalkShop.<\/p>\n

Guests are also invited to visit the Bits and Bobs pop-up store for fine English goods on August 11 to 12, September 15 to 16, and October 20 to 21. For a final English touch, iconic English tableware brand Wedgwood\u2014wherein its collections have graced the tables of royal families\u2014will have a display of its Wild Strawberry collection at the Writers Bar.<\/p>\n
