{"id":19188,"date":"2017-07-18T08:59:49","date_gmt":"2017-07-18T00:59:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/?p=19188"},"modified":"2022-08-08T18:03:00","modified_gmt":"2022-08-08T10:03:00","slug":"national-museum-declares-pagsanjan-arch-intramuros-monuments-as-ncts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/2017\/07\/18\/national-museum-declares-pagsanjan-arch-intramuros-monuments-as-ncts\/","title":{"rendered":"National Museum declares Pagsanjan Arch, Intramuros Monuments as NCTs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Museum of the Philippines has added to its list of National Cultural Treasures with the declaration of several monuments in Intramuros, the Silang Church Complex in Cavite, and Pagsanjan, Laguna\u2019s Puerta Real Boundary Arch among other spots in Luzon as National Cultural Treasures (NCTs).<\/p>\n<p>The Intramuros and other Luzon sites possessed \u201coutstanding historical, cultural, artistic and scientific value which is highly significant and important to the country,\u201d according to an article that appeared in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.<\/p>\n<p>The Intramuros monuments, which include statues of Simon de Anda, Miguel Lopez De Legazpi, Fr. Andres Urdaneta, King Carlos IV, and Queen Isabel II, are \u201cpriceless legacies representing the people\u2019s symbol of respect of and gratitude for the colonial power\u2019s contribution to the defense and welfare of the Filipino people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\n<p>Cavite\u2019s Silang Church Complex, on the other hand, was added to the list for its <em>retablo mayor<\/em> and <em>menores, <\/em>which embodied the \u201ccreativity and the indomitable spirit of the Filipino. Vigan\u2019s Ayusan-Paoa Spanish-era bridge, according to the National Museum, is an \u201carchitectural marvel and a priceless legacy representing the people\u2019s respect of a bygone era of builders and designers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19193\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/07\/anthro.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/07\/anthro.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/07\/anthro-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/07\/anthro-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ANTHROPOLOGY<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Also included in the list are the Puerta Real Boundary Arch in Pagsanjan, Laguna and the building of the National Museum of Fine Arts (Old Legislative), National Museum of Anthropology (Old Finance), and National Museum of Natural History (Old Agriculture and Commerce) in Manila.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\n<p>The Pagsanjan Arch, built in 1877 and restored during the 70s, was cited as an outstanding landmark that showed the ideal blend between aesthetics and function.
