Bayer develops Mosquito Learning Lab for\u00a0dengue awareness in the community.<\/p>\n

Bayer, a global provider of vector control solutions, organized a joint media briefing recently with the Philippine Department of Health and Malaria Consortium Asia. The company stressed the importance of continuing efforts to fight dengue, as it is estimated that 3.9 billion people in 128 countries are at risk of infection with dengue viruses.<\/p>\n

\u201cBayer continues to work with partners involved in public health and vector control to address risks posed by dengue,\u201d said Nadim Mohr, Head of APAC, Environmental Science, Bayer Crop Science. According to data published by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Americas, South East Asia and Western Pacific Regions are the most seriously affected.<\/p>\n

\u201cTogether, we aim to raise greater awareness not only on managing dengue but on preventive measures that start with eliminating its vector, the Aedes <\/em>sp. mosquito.\u00a0 Advocacy and communication is a critical part of disease control through raising public awareness,\u201d added Mohr.<\/p>\n

Bayer Mosquito Learning Lab and Mosquito Quest App <\/strong><\/p>\n

To strengthen joint initiatives for generating dengue awareness and educational programs for the public, Bayer developed the Mosquito Learning Lab \u2013 an online learning tool to help bring the message closer to everyone in the community, from school children to families, to sustain a high level of awareness and vigilance.<\/p>\n

Bayer\u2019s Innovation Manager Jason Nash said, \u201cWe developed Bayer Mosquito Learning Lab as an online learning tool specially designed for the community to learn more about dengue and Zika \u2013 how to manage these diseases and their vectors; as well as the many different ways the public can prevent mosquito breeding in and around their homes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd to coincide with ASEAN Dengue Day this year, we are very pleased to introduce Mosquito Quest \u2013 a virtual reality experience that complements Mosquito Learning Lab where users test their knowledge to identify potential mosquito breeding sites in a home,\u201d added Nash.\u00a0 Mosquito Quest is a great tool that uses the latest technology to complement public educational efforts in the battle to prevent mosquito breeding. This brings a strong element of fun to learning about mosquito prevention, enhancing the adoption of mosquito prevention methods.<\/p>\n
