{"id":17943,"date":"2017-06-13T09:00:51","date_gmt":"2017-06-13T01:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/?p=17943"},"modified":"2017-06-13T15:51:03","modified_gmt":"2017-06-13T07:51:03","slug":"ph-employment-rate-improves-jobless-rate-decreases-to-5-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/2017\/06\/13\/ph-employment-rate-improves-jobless-rate-decreases-to-5-7\/","title":{"rendered":"PH employment rate improves, jobless rate decreases by 5.7%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Philippine employment rate has improved, seeing it went down by 5.7 percent as per the Philippine Statistics Authority.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17947\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/06\/FE013_L.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>Unemployment rate in PH goes down to 5.7% in 2017.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In a media release by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), this decrease by 5.7% from the previous 6.1% in April 2016 in the unemployment rate was based on the April 2017 Labor Force Survey of the Philippine Statistics Authority.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the unemployment rate, the underemployment rate (defined by NEDA as \u201cproportion of employed persons wanting additional work\u201d) reached its lowest at a 16.1% rate in April 2017.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17946 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/06\/LFS-April-2017-rev3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"895\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/06\/LFS-April-2017-rev3.jpg 768w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/06\/LFS-April-2017-rev3-257x300.jpg 257w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>Infographic of the Labor Force participation rates. \/IMAGE NEDA<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Apart from these figures, NEDA also noted the increase in employment in the following sectors: agriculture with net employment gains of 125,000 workers and manufacturing with employment gains of 55,000 workers.<\/p>\n<p>As per NEDA, this decrease in unemployment rate must be sustained together with higher job creation to further reduce the rate to 3% by 2022.
