Taking its cue from the current Do Not Disturb, this new feature curbs all notifications so you can keep your eyes on the road.\/IMAGE Apple<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Apple is ramping up its own Do Not Disturb by adding a Do Not Disturb While Driving feature. Craig Federighi, Apple\u2019s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, explained at this year\u2019s Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) that the new feature is designed so that drivers can keep their eyes off of their phones.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17596\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/06\/cnn.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/06\/cnn.jpg 800w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/06\/cnn-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/06\/cnn-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>IMAGE CNN Tech<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">What you need to know:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The new feature will utilize Bluetooth (if your device is connected to a car that has one) or a WiFi Doppler radar effect to see if you&#8217;re in a moving <\/span>vehicle.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">As with anything linked to your car, you will be given one drive before it automatically sets up.<span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to use Bluetooth to see if you\u2019re connected to your car. Even if you don\u2019t have Bluetooth, we\u2019re going to use a WiFi Doppler effect to measure if you\u2019re in a moving vehicle. When you finish that first drive, we\u2019re going to suggest activating Do Not Disturb While Driving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-17591 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/06\/5-e1496732000344.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">IF IT&#8217;S NOT URGENT, don&#8217;t look at it. The latest addition to iOS can automatically send a text to whoever sends you one that tells them you&#8217;re driving. This can be overridden in case of emergency.\/IMAGE CNN Tech<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>This new feature withholds any notifications (text messages, news updates, etc.) you may get while you drive.<\/li>\n<li>If someone sends you a message while you\u2019re driving, the new feature allows your iPhone to send an automatic response saying \u201cI\u2019m driving with Do Not Disturb turned on. I\u2019ll see your message when I get where I\u2019m going.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Passengers will have the ability to disable the feature, while applications like Apple Maps and Google Maps, will still work, though you won\u2019t be able to input destinations. Contact you select\u00a0can also override the auto-response by replying with the word &#8220;urgent&#8221; so you&#8217;re not completely out of sync with those people.<\/p>\n<p>Cars with Apple CarPlay (currently available on select cars made by General Motors, Fiat, Chrysler, BMW, and Honda) will still be able to interact with your iPhone the way it did before.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What it means for iPhone users in PH<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This new feature looks to be something that will fit very well with the new Anti-Distracted Driving Law once it is re-launched after Senate and Congress review the law\u2019s implementing rules and regulations.<\/p>\n<p><em>Also read:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/tips-guides\/2017\/05\/17\/anti-distracted-driving-act-what-you-need-to-know-about-ra-10913\/\" target=\"_blank\">Anti-Distracted Driving Act: What you need to know about RA 10913<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Granted, not every driver on the road will own an iPhone, but this will help out those with the device at the very least.
