{"id":16600,"date":"2017-05-13T10:00:12","date_gmt":"2017-05-13T02:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/?p=16600"},"modified":"2022-05-04T13:21:01","modified_gmt":"2022-05-04T05:21:01","slug":"filipino-actors-and-filmmakers-bag-awards-at-asean-film-fest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/2017\/05\/13\/filipino-actors-and-filmmakers-bag-awards-at-asean-film-fest\/","title":{"rendered":"Filipino actors and filmmakers bag awards at ASEAN Film Fest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The film spotlight is once again tilted in the Philippines as Filipino filmmakers and actors bagged awards in the third ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards at the Pullman Hotel in Kuching, Malaysia last May 6.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Filipino filmmaker Luisito \u201cLouie\u201d Ignacio won best director while Filipina comedienne Aiai Delas alas scored the best actress title both for their film <em>Area.<\/em> Delas Alas was not able to attend the awarding ceremony since she is promoting her upcoming film <em>Our Mighty Yaya<\/em> in Manila; Ignacio received the award for her.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">\u201cWe were there not as individual directors; we represented the entire Philippine movie industry\u2014so that our neighbors would know more about us.\u201d Ignacio said in an interview with Inquirer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Filipina actress Ana Capri also received the best supporting actress award for Ignacio\u2019s other film entry,<em> Laut <\/em>which also stars Barbie Forteza, Gabbi Garcia, Jak Roberto, Ronwaldo Martin, Rico Barrera and veteran actress Perla Bautista.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Another Filipino actor, Ricky Davao, who also was not able to attend, was hailed best supporting actor award for Bor Ocampo\u2019s <em>Dayang Asu.<\/em> \u201cThis honor is a reminder that I am still an actor, in spite of my hectic schedule as a director.\u201d he told the Inquirer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Lawrence Fajardo bagged best editing for his work in the film he also directed <em>Imbisibol<\/em>. The Festival\u2019s opening film, Lav Diaz\u2019s <em>Ang Babaeng Humayo<\/em> (The Woman Who Left), was given a Special Honor Award. Executive producer Ronald Arguelles was present to accept the award.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">From more than a hundred entries, AIFFA screened 31 films in competition and brought Asia\u2019s biggest and brightest stars from May 4 to 6. Nine of these films came from the Philippines, which has the most number of entries.
