{"id":15866,"date":"2017-04-20T10:00:24","date_gmt":"2017-04-20T02:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/?p=15866"},"modified":"2017-04-20T17:28:51","modified_gmt":"2017-04-20T09:28:51","slug":"mega-manila-subway-leads-duterte-admins-golden-age-of-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/2017\/04\/20\/mega-manila-subway-leads-duterte-admins-golden-age-of-infrastructure\/","title":{"rendered":"Mega Manila Subway leads Duterte admin\u2019s &#8216;Golden Age of Infrastructure&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Duterte administration recently unveiled its infrastructure plans until 2022 and the country\u2019s first subway system is set to lead the way.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15869\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/04\/1-14.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/04\/1-14.jpg 600w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/04\/1-14-300x205.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">IMAGE build.gov.ph<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Mega Manila Subway, dubbed as \u201cthe most ambitious project\u201d of the Duterte administration by Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, was at the forefront of the government\u2019s infrastructure plans unveiled during the \u201cDutertenomics\u201d Forum held at the Conrad Hotel last Tuesday, April 18.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15871\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/04\/logo-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"218\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/04\/logo-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/04\/logo-1-300x109.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><em><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\">IMAGE build.gov.ph<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>These plans include the construction of a connector road between NLEX and SLEX, a road and bridge to connect BGC and Ortigas, four bus rapid transit lines (Quezon City-Manila, EDSA, Cebu, and BGC-NAIA), common bus terminals, and improvement (or construction in the case of the New Bohol Airport in Panglao) of the country\u2019s airports, among others.<\/p>\n<p>The estimated P227-million subway system is expected to link Quezon City and Taguig City with a consistent travel time of 31 minutes. It\u2019s also expected to take between 300,000 and 350,000 passengers a day between both cities.<\/p>\n<p>Thirteen stops were proposed for the Mega Manila Subway: Mindanao Avenue, North Avenue, Quezon Avenue, East Avenue, Anonas, and Katipunan in Quezon City; Ortigas North and Ortigas South in Pasig City; Kalayaan Avenue in Makati City; Bonifacio Global City, Cayetano Boulevard, and Food Terminal Incorporated (FTI) in Taguig City; and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-15868\" src=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/04\/Mega-Manila-Subway-Route_CNNPH.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/04\/Mega-Manila-Subway-Route_CNNPH.png 600w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/04\/Mega-Manila-Subway-Route_CNNPH-290x218.png 290w, https:\/\/primer.com.ph\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2017\/04\/Mega-Manila-Subway-Route_CNNPH-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><span style=\"font-size: 10pt\"><em>IMAGE CNN.ph<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Tugade said he wants the construction for the subway to start by the fourth quarter of 2020, though he hopes it can be initiated as early as 2019, with 2024 set as the completion date. Tugade is also hoping that both President Rodrigo Duterte and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will sign the agreement for its construction sometime in November this year.<\/p>\n<p>Funding for the project will come from the government through official development assistance from Japan.
