So much talent on one stage. <\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Dance concerts are very atypical in the Philippines and it\u2019s fortunate to have something like this in a country whose love for dance and music are reigning supreme.<\/span><\/p>\n

Everyone at the Carlos P Romulo Auditorium in RCBC Plaza Makati was in awed by the show-stopping performances of the three Japanese dance crews last Jan 17 & 18. The s**t kingz, Tokyo Gegegay and TAPDANCERIZE keeps audiences on their toes during their kick off concert in the Philippines.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"tapdancerize_2\"<\/p>\n

The show opened with<\/strong> TAPDANCERIZE<\/strong> which features three tap dancers: Yuri Uragami, Gunjo and Satomi Toma and are accompanied by 4 instrumentalists. Each of the three members had their solo performance that showcases their unique approach of tap dancing. The whole performance consists of so many elements like ballet, jazz, break dance and soul dance. The 30 minutes set ended with people rising to their feet.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Tokyo_Gegegay\"<\/p>\n

The second performer is the Tokyo Gegegay,<\/strong> the group\u2019s theme for the show is \u201cIt\u2019s a Gegegay World \u2013 Konnichiwa! Arigatou! Gay!\u201d. This group definitely entertained and wow-ed the fans with their school theme in their usual dark Tokyo Gegegay fashion. The impressive interpretation of dance fused with dark comedy kept our eyes glued to the stage.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"shit_kingz\"<\/p>\n

The last and most awaited performance was from the s**t kingz <\/strong>with \u201cSk show\u201d<\/strong>. This group was victorious in the dance contest \u201cBody Rock,\u201d held in California, two years in a row. They have worked with top artists Daichi Miura, SHINEE, EXO and Mariah Carey. They performed a collection of their earlier routines through the years. The quartet showed us their version of lyrical hip hop which made the auditorium extremely entertained.<\/span><\/p>\n

About Dance Dance Asia: <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Japan Foundation Asia Center starts a long-term ASEAN project named \u201cDance Dance Asia\u201d from 2015 to support the exchange and collaboration of Asian regional dance companies \/ dancers that are based on street dance, including not only hip-hop but variety of genres such as jazz dance, contemporary dance, etc.<\/em><\/p>\n

DANCE DANCE ASIA will travel to three other Southeast Asian cities in the next months to showcase their talents and promote exchange and collaboration among street dance groups in the ASEAN region.<\/em><\/p>\n
