Scheduled to arrive to the Philippines today, Pope Francis will be holding Holy Masses at the Manila Cathedral on\u00a0Jan. 16<\/span><\/span>; in Tacloban, Leyte on\u00a0Jan. 17<\/span><\/span>; and at the Quirino Grandstand at the Rizal Park on\u00a0Jan. 18<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Millions of Filipinos and other nationalities are expected to attend the Pope\u2019s Mass at the Quirino Grandstand. Gates will be opened as early as\u00a06:00 am<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and will be closed by\u00a02:30 pm<\/span><\/span>. Camping will not be allowed in the venue the night before.<\/span><\/p>\n

For those who will be attending the mass on\u00a0January 18<\/span><\/span>, here are a few safety reminders from the government:<\/span><\/p>\n

1. <\/strong>Be calm. Don\u2019t\u00a0push. Don\u2019t run.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2. <\/strong>Monitor public safety advisories.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3. <\/strong>Avoid bringing children, pregnant women, the elderly and persons with health issues to the event.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4. <\/strong>Take note of alternative routes. Some roads will be closed to vehicular traffic. Mass-goers can be dropped off at the corner of Roxas Boulevard and Quirino Avenue, at the corner of U.N. Avenue and San Marcelino, and the corner of Ayala and San Marcelino.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5. <\/strong>Don\u2019t buy tickets or passes from anyone. Papal visits are free.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

6. <\/strong>Please be patient of security checks and follow the instructions of designated marshals and law enforcers.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

7. <\/strong>Please practice good manners and right conduct. Don\u2019t litter. Don\u2019t make jokes about anything that might provoke panic. Don\u2019t be noisy or rowdy. Don\u2019t break or climb barriers. Pick up the garbage.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

8. <\/strong>Bags and backpacks are not allowed. Bring transparent plastic bags. Bring IDs, bottled water, flashlights, snacks, raincoats, medicine and personal items such as cell phones and face towels.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

9. <\/strong>Do not bring weapons, excessive pocket money,\u00a0expensive items such as jewelry, firecrackers,\u00a0inflatable objects,\u00a0\u00a0umbrellas, pets, and alcoholic beverages.<\/span><\/p>\n
