The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has decided to extend their \u201cno window hours\u201d policy until July 31, 2017 to further lessen traffic in Metro Manila\u2019s major roads according to an article published on their website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The MMDA made the decision after consulting with the Metro Manila Council (MMC) and the Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (I-ACT), citing improved traffic conditions along major thoroughfares in Metro Manila as a reason for its extension.<\/p>\n

MMDA General Manager Thomas Orbos said he doesn\u2019t see people buying another vehicle just to avoid the \u201cno window hours\u201d policy, saying it would be impractical for them to do so.<\/p>\n

He did say the policy will be taken up once more at the next regular meeting of the MMC, which is composed of Metro Manila\u2019s 17 mayors.<\/p>\n

The MMDA first announced<\/a> the removal of the window hours for their Number Coding Scheme in October 2016, seen as their response to what would have been a potential gridlock over the holidays. They mentioned then that if the policy would be successful, then they would decide if it needs to be extended or be permanently put in place.<\/p>\n
