Beyond knowing how to make a car move forward, backward, left, and right, are these young motorists equipped with the necessary know-how to safely drive a car?<\/p>\n

To bridge the knowledge gap, Carmudi.com.ph<\/a>, the Philippines\u2019 leading car selling and buying platform, in partnership with GMA News TV motoring show Turbo Zone<\/a>, recently staged its \u201cRoad Safety Caravan\u201d at STI College-Bonifacio Global City.<\/p>\n Serving as resources speakers for the various topics on road safety were award-winning broadcast journalist Jiggy Manicad and news reporter Oscar Oida.<\/p>\n Manicad spoke about basic defensive driving, road courtesy, pedestrian and commuter safety, and road rage; while Oida talked about practical tips on road safety, right of way, safe bike riding, and traffic signs and road markings.<\/p>\n Viral videos on social media have shown that today\u2019s severe road congestion is an ever-increasing concern for the public. This, coupled with resource persons who brave these streets every day, filled up the STI-BGC auditorium with over 600 student attendees eager to learn. The lively and lengthy discussion that followed the talks also proved that the issue is a big blip on our radar of concern.<\/p>\n Beyond the forum and discussions on stage, the \u201cRoad Safety Caravan\u201d also allowed the students to get a feel of driving by putting them behind the steering wheel of a realistic driving simulator.<\/p>\n \u201cCarmudi is more than just a marketplace for selling and buying cars\u201d said Carmudi Philippines PR and Marketing Head Kris Lim. \u201cSince we\u2019re in the business of helping people purchase cars, we\u2019ve made road safety our advocacy. It\u2019s not enough that you know how to drive a car; you should also know how to drive it safely and responsibly.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s so alarming to see the number of accidents on the road today.
