  • Cebu Pacific Begins Manila-Shenzhen Flights This July
  • In an effort to give the growing number of travelers a viable option to reach mainland China, local budget airline Cebu Pacific (CEB)  announced the start of its direct commercial service between Manila and Shenzhen next month.

“Our new direct service between Manila and Shenzhen will enable faster movement of people and products providing increased mobility and access in some of the fastest-growing economies in the world,” Vice President for Marketing and Distribution Candice Iyog said in a statement.

Further, the newly launched direct flight is in line with the carrier’s plans to “expand its route network in China to serve the increasing demand for leisure and business travel.”

The Manila-Shenzhen route commences on July 1, 2019, and will be flying four times a week—every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

Shenzhen, located in Guangdong Province, is part of the booming Pearl River Delta megalopolis. It is China’s first special economic zone and was dubbed as the “Silicon Valley” of China as it houses the country’s leading innovation and technology giants such as Huawei, BGI, BYD, and Tencent.

It became a traveler’s destination for its “continuous development of rail and road links to other cities within the region, including a branch road that connects to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.”

Shenzhen will serve to be Cebu Pacific’s fifth destination in mainland China alongside Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Xiamen.
