  • A beautiful paradise in Leyte: Kalanggaman Island
  • Kalanggaman Island is just one of the Philippines natural riches located in the municipality of Palompon in the province of Leyte. Though the island is geologically positioned in Leyte, it is just one to two hour boat ride from Malapascua Island in Cebu.

The island has a length of only 753m and is still uninhabited. There are no privately owned resorts in the island so if you’re planning to stay overnight, you can rent a tent for P300 per night for 4 persons and P250 per night for 2 persons. To preserve the beauty of the place, the local tourism office only allows maximum of 500 tourists per day. There are also no restaurants in Kalanggaman Island, but you can buy freshly caught seafood from local fishermen; grilling stations and wooden tables are available for tourists.

If you want to best enjoy the beauty of this paradise, avoid the rainy season which is from the months of July to September. The best time to visit the island is during summer season from February to May but you can still visit the island from October to June. The beach is also usually crowded during summer, national holidays, holy week and long weekends. Aside from swimming, there are other fun outdoor activities to do in the island like Kayaking, Snorkelling, Aqua-biking, Scuba diving, and Camping.

    Day Tour Rates: International Tourists – P500, Local Tourists – P150, College Student Tourists – P40, High-school Student Tourists – P30, Elementary Student Tourists – P20, Senior Citizen Tourists – P120
