As a well-known tourist attraction in Manila, many people flock to Intramuros, the historical city where one can learn of the beauty and story of the Spanish conquest in the Hispanic period. As part of promoting ecotourism, Bambike was born. Bambike is a “socio-ecological enterprise that hand-makes bamboo bikes. These bikes are made by Gawad Kalinga, a community development organization that created programs for the poor.
Through these “bamboo bikes or Bambikes,” Intramuros guests now have an alternative way of touring around the famous walled city through biking. Through riding these bikes, you will be helping the community as well and you’ll be having a memorable and exciting way to learn about the Philippine history.
Places of interest that may be included in the tour are the San Agustine Church, Fort Santiago, Manila Cathedral, Rizal Shrine, Plaza San Luis Complex, and various monuments found outside the walls.
