  • Baker Brothers in SM Aura Recreates Filipino Favorites in a Unique Way
  • From its name, one would think that Baker Brothers in SM Aura, Taguig is simply a pastry shop with coffee and small dishes. The truth is, it’s a restaurant that offers so much more.

The pastries of Baker Brothers are big in sizes great for sharing–a kind act usually done by Filipinos when it comes to food, says Chef Robert

Seeing how the Filipino taste and Manila restaurants are evolving fast, Swedish Chef Robert Lilja of the Makati Garden Club opened Baker Brothers to serve Filipino comfort food, upgraded pastries, and coffee.

When it comes to their food, their Cream of Tomato w/ Cheese and Garlic Croutons (Php 220) is truly a must-try. The soup is quite a big serving and is served hot to slowly melt the cheese underneath. As if it were a melted mozzarella pizza, the thick tomato cream with the stretchy melted cheese entices the appetite for the main meal.

Dip the bread into the tomato and it’s almost like having melted mozzarella pizza.

Fill your tummy with a hearty serving of Funky Chicken (Php 290/2pcs, Php 520/4pcs, Php 740/6pcs) which is “roasted chicken the Baker Brothers Way.” This dish is paired with a choice of sauces namely Honey Sesame Chili, Herb & Calamansi, and Five Alarm Chili. The chicken is good for sharing and also for self-indulging.

With the Kimchi fried rice, BB’s Funky Chicken steals the show as a great main dish for the whole family!

There is also the Salpicado (Php 320 single / Php 590 sharing) which is paired with their organic garlic corn-spinach rice. The pork is very tender and is smothered with a generous amount of sauce. The dish is very savory that mixes well with the loaded rice.

The creamiest pork salpicao you’ll ever have is at Baker Brothers.

When we think of sinigang, it is natural to think of a soup-based dish. However, Baker Brothers put a twist to it as they recreated sinigang into a brisket corned beef topped with sinigang gravy in their dish called Corned Beef in Sinigang (Php 330/single; Php 580/sharing). The soft marbled brisket sits beautifully on the organic spinach rice.

Once again Baker Brothers made Filipino favorites unique and updated it to a brisket corned beef in sinigang gravy.

Living in the Philippines for more than thirty years, Chef Robert understood Filipino cuisine like the back of his hand. By opening Baker Brothers in SM Aura, Taguig, he is sharing his experiences and learnings from when he previously worked for several local hotels and restaurants in the country.

Head on over to Baker Brothers any time you are at SM Aura Premier.
