  • Teppan Okochi in Rockwell: An Authentic Teppanyaki Experience
  • Teppan Okochi in Rockwell prides itself with its teppanyaki – a style of Japanese cuisine where food is cooked on an iron griddle.

This restaurant, which serves only authentic Japanese eats, offers a wide variety of food ranging from okonomiyaki to unagi or eels. This branch of Teppan Okochi is also the sole branch that offers pasta; a rare sight in most Japanese restaurants.

Teppan Okochi also features a sushi counter, where, like the Teppanyaki counter, you can watch chefs skillfully prepare the dish in front of your eyes. They also have a bar which carries a variety of wines and sake that you can match with your meals.

The restaurant has three U-shaped counter seats that surround the Teppanyaki counter. This way, it’s more spacious and diners can witness master chefs prepare various dishes.

Rockwell’s Teppan Okochi is the only branch to feature pasta dishes, hence, their pasta is a treat! Consider trying their Teppan Cooked Authentic Napolitan (Php 380). Napolitan is a Japanese-style pasta that’s tomato-based and sauteed with ham. It’s the ideal dish if you’re looking for that authentic tomato-sauce taste with a Japanese touch.

You might also want to sample the Tomato & Grilled Camembert Salad on Iron Plate (Php 780). The Camembert cheese is grilled on the teppan before being added to the salad and although it’s grilled, the Camembert retains its creaminess as well as its soft texture.

Of course, you’ll also find a variety of Japanese dishes such as unagi, tempura, and okonomiyaki among others.

They also offer lunch courses as well as course meals for big groups. They have a variety of starters and an assortment of fish and meat. Their dishes totally make this Japanese food trip one of the best experiences.

The branch opened last January 20 and features a mural painting of a dragon by Japanese artist Hirono Nakamura who made it live during the restaurant’s opening.

While they do accept walk-ins, it’s recommended to come with a reservation – especially if you’re coming in big groups.
