    Hatsu Hana Tei was established in 2002 as the in-house Japanese restaurant of Herald Suites, Makati. Embodying its name that directly translates to “first spring flower”, this restaurant offers a relaxed and refined ambiance for traditional Japanese dining.

    Unlike other restaurants that choose to adapt to a more modern approach, Hatsu Hana Tei prefers to stick to traditional Japanese cuisine. Infused with a deep connection to nature, the Japanese restaurant prides itself on crafting healthy Japanese food, meticulously prepared and cooked fresh in their kitchen.

    Chef Koicho Kondo, the culinary visionary behind Hatsu Hana Tei, creates the culinary marvels at this Japanese restaurant. Among his exceptional creations are charcoal-grilled meat dishes glazed with miso, elevating the meat’s tenderness and imparting a delectable sweet and savory essence through a perfect balance of flavors.

    Aside from these grilled dishes, Hatsu Hana Tei also offers sukiyaki with thinkly-sliced marbled beef, tofu, onions, mushrooms, and udon noodles stewed in shoyu or soy sauce-based sauce. This dish is cooked in a cast iron pan, resembling a comforting hot pot dish that can be shared between friends and family.

    For those craving for the delicate freshness of seafood, try Hatsu Hana Tei’s Maguro Sashimi and Maguro Don, featuring freshly sliced Bluefin or Yellowfin tuna that you can pair with vinegar rice.

    Meanwhile, Chef Koichi Kondo, who has been working for the restaurant since it opened, continuously experiments on the newest possible dishes they could offer to their diners every year. Aside from the Japanese appetizers, they also proudly serve Kaiseki-style meals—a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner.

    While Hatsu Hana Tei serves various meals for solo or couples, the Japanese restaurant also extends a warm invitation to groups seeking an intimate celebration.

    If you want to have a private dinner with friends or family, they have seven (7) traditional tatami rooms with 4-seater up to 15-seater choices. These rooms are equipped with a bell system so whenever you have additional orders, you can just ring the bell to get the attention of the server assigned to assist your table.

    How to get here:

    • By car: If you are coming from Greenbelt 1, drive along Paseo de Roxas them make a right turn onto Arnaiz Avenue. Make another right turn onto Chino Roces Avenue. Herald Suites is located at your left just across Little Tokyo’s Izakaya Kikufuji. Hatsu Hana Tei is on the second floor of Herald Suites.
