The Philippines and Denmark have had a long history of diplomatic relations (70 years, to be exact). The land of the Danes is home by over 11,000 Filipinos, and cultural exchanges between both countries have been the norm ever since the Danish Embassy reopened three years ago. WINNERS of the 2016 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival will be announced at the Cinemalaya Awards Night on August 14, 2016 at 7 p.m. at the CCP Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater). With the theme “Break the Surface, this year’s Cinemalaya Festival boasted of 19 new digital films in competition. In the full length feature, nine films competed. Virgin Labfest is a laboratory festival that showcases new plays written by both up-and-coming and established playwrights. The festival aims to give Filipino playwrights a venue to present their unpublished, unstaged, untested, and untried works to theatergoers. The European Union Delegation to the Philippines brings the 18th installment of Cine Europa to Zamboanga, Tacloban, Davao, Leyte, and Cagayan de Oro from October 13 to November 22.
