  • Spotify Launches New and Lighter Music Streaming App for Android Devices
  • We can all agree that music is meant to be enjoyed by everyone anywhere, regardless of network connectivity, data plan, and phone model you are using.

Well, good news for all music lovers out there! You can now enjoy your favorite playlists, discover new music, and share it with others in a lighter and faster way through Spotify’s newest application, Spotify Lite.

Officially launched last July 9, Spotify Lite is a smaller, faster, and more simplified version of our favorite music streaming app.

Although it still works much like the main Spotify app with an unparalleled music experience, it has a few extra features making it compatible and ideal for older Android devices and operating systems.

“Spotify Lite was built from the ground up based on user feedback from around the world, allowing millions more to enjoy the world’s best music experience—especially in areas with limited bandwidth and phone storage,” Spotify Senior Product Manager Kalle Persson said.

With Spotify Lite, you can control your phone data usage and storage in a breeze. At only 10MB, expect quicker installing and app-loading while offering the same listening experience that lets you discover, play, and enjoy millions of songs.

This app is also data-friendly, giving you the ability to set a data limit and get a notification when you reach it. No need to worry about your data anymore!

Additionally, for phone storage concerns, Spotify Lite allows you to control your cache and clear it with a single tap. This app can be downloaded separately and be used either alongside or independently from the main Spotify app on all Android devices running 4.3 (Jelly Bean) or higher.

“Southeast Asia is one of the fastest-growing music markets in the world, but music streaming is only just taking hold. With mobile phone adoption skyrocketing and many users coming online for the first time, Spotify Lite opens up the Spotify experience to millions more music fans,” says Gautam Talwar, managing director of Spotify Southeast Asia.

Spotify Lite is accessible for both Free and Spotify Premium users. It is now available on 36 Google Play markets across Asia, Latin America, Middle East, Africa, among others.
