  • Celebrate the Chinese New Year 2019 with Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila as they offer Recipes for Prosperity, an array of delectable Chinese dishes starting from February 4 to 8, 2019 at the Spiral restaurant.

Adding to a series of food offerings at Spiral is another week-long culinary journey that takes you to the Land of the Dragons with a spread of authentic Chinese cuisine celebrating prosperity for the Year of the Earth Pig.

Twelve dishes from the Chinese-Malaysian, Hong Kong and Cantonese cuisines will be masterfully prepared by Spiral’s newest culinary artisan Chef Yui So Chan. Each of the dishes will represent luck, good health, wealth and bounty as they welcome the new year.

    12 Dishes of Prosperity

First in their Chinese New Year menu is the Braised Abalone with Mushroom, which is believed to bring good fortune and wealth. Their Traditional Hong Kong Steamed Fish with soya sauce also symbolizes abundance throughout the whole year.

The Ho Se with Spinach and Sea Moss, which is made from braised dry oysters, represents positiveness in business and entrepreneurs, while the Half Shell Scallop in X.O. Sauce symbolizes fertility, life, as well as new opportunities.

A famous Chinese delicacy, the Traditional Pork Dumplings with Spicy Vinegar Sauce is known to bring in togetherness and harmony in families.

Further, authentic flavors of the Buddha soup made from seafood, ginseng, wild mushrooms, bamboo shoots and star anise are believed to bring out good wealth and fulfillment.

The menu would not be complete without one of the important festive Chinese seafood dishes—the Malaysian style crispy Cereal Butter Prawn for liveliness and cheerfulness.

Another lucky seafood dish is the Creamy Butter Crab, which is known to be a sign of higher achievements and greater possibilities in life.

For a long and prosperous life ahead, try out their Long Life Noodles in 8 Treasure Sauce.
