  • What’s a better way to celebrate the upcoming holiday season than to catch up with musicals and ballet shows in the metro? As we kick off the start of the penultimate month of the year, Philippine Primer gives you a list of theater plays and ballet performances you shouldn’t miss!

    All Out of Love

    Based on Air Supply’s fastest selling second single “All Out Of Love,” this musical will definitely hold the audience captive as the modern story is set in the busy streets of New York, revolving around two types of love: passion and family/romantic love.

    Told through the classic songs of one of the world’s most successful duo, relive the iconic music of soft rock duo Air Supply at this highly anticipated new musical called All out of Love The Musical at the Newport Performing Arts Theater this coming October 18, 2018! Tickets are available here.

    Waitress the Musical

    Based on the 2007 film by Adrienne Shelly, Waitress is a story of Jenna, a pie maker who finds comfort in baking despite having an uneventful life. With her friends Dawn and Becky, she finds the courage to change her life for the better and to envision a life out of her loveless marriage. The show is currently running on Broadway and will soon open in London’s West End.

    Get ready for a slice of pie as Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group brings Waitress, a Tony-nominated musical that features music from six-time Grammy nominee, Sara Bareilles. The musical will start their run on November 9, 2018 until December 2, 2018, at the Carols P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza. Tickets are available here.

    Rapunzel: A Very Hairy Fairy Tale

    As part of Repertory Philippines’ golden anniversary, they are bringing a musical play for young audiences titled “Rapunzel! Rapunzel! A Very Hairy Fairy Tale!,” a fun twist to the classic children’s book and film Rapunzel.

    Rapunzel! Rapunzel! A Very Hairy Fairy Tale!” will run from September 15 to January 27, 2019, at the Onstage Theater in Greenbelt 1, Makati City. Tickets are available here.

    Mula Sa Buwan

    Based on Edmond Rostand’s ‘Cyrano de Bergerac’ and from the Filipino translation of Soc Rodrigo, Mula Sa Buwan is a musical about love and defiance set post-war that centers the timeless love story of three young ROTC cadets.

    Mula Sa Buwan will run on November 22, 2018, 7 p.m. at the Hyundai Hall The Areté, Katipunan, Quezon City. Tickets are available here.

    The Medium: Opera Thriller

    The Medium is an opera thriller musical drama revolving around the reality and the supernatural world. This musical is a play of curious imagination about psychic, occult, innocence, and truth.

    The show will run every Friday and Saturday from November 4, 2018, to November 25, 2018, at the Zobel de Ayala Hall, Maybank Performing Arts Theater, BGC Arts Center, Taguig. Tickets are available here.

    The Nutcracker

    To finally close their 32nd season, catch Philippine Ballet Theatre’s The Nutcracker! A holiday classic ballet performance, the Nutcracker will be restaged to an even more magical and exciting performance.

    Catch the Nutcracker at the Main Theater of the Cultural Center of the Philippines this November 17, 2018, and November 18, 2018. Tickets are available here.

    Ballet Manila’s CEO and Artistic Director Lisa Macuja-Elizalde is back once again to perform the classic fairy tale of Cinderella. A romantic-comedy and a light twist on everyone’s well-loved story is back and will surely bring a pre-holiday magic vibe for everyone.

    Catch Cinderella on November 24 & December 1, 2018 (6 p.m.) and November 25 & December 2, 2018 (3 p.m.) at the ALIW Theater in Pasay City. Tickets are available here.

    Snow White

    A Christmas offering as part of their 49th season, Ballet Philippines brings back the enchanting story of a girl, a cursed apple and her seven charming dwarfs.
